Uncle Michael

Uncle Michael came down for a little visit and he got to meet Peyton for the first time! We went on a little day-cation in San Diego to visit Michael at a super nice hotel. Peyton wore her bathing suit for the first time.
Michael and Kipp got some good surf in and we all enjoyed the sunshine. I only wish Jodie and the kids were here too!

Baby Brody

Our good friends Dusty and Andi had a cute baby boy names Brody Allen. He is adorable! We thought it was fun to compare the sizes of the kids. Peyton is 7 weeks old in this picture. We are so excited that our kds are so close in age.
Peyton wore blue for her new little boyfriend! She is wearing Tanner's old sweatshirt. She is showing Brody that she is a laid back girl.
We love you baby Brody Welcome to the world!

Our Big Boy

This is one of the last pictures taken with Tanner having a pacifier. A while back we put a hole in his magenta because it was getting yucky. So then he would take any pacifier. As some of you read a week and a half ago his other paci "broke". I put a hole in it but Tanner thought that it broke because he was so big and strong. Because it was broken he made the decision to throw it in the trash. We told him that paci's were for babies like Peyton and that he was a big boy. It has been a week and a half and things are back to normal. He takes a naps and goes to sleep at night with no problem. The hour long cries for his paci are behind us. Thank goodness! Softie on the other hand is a different story. That is his small soft blanket you can see in the picture. It was a hand-me-down from Jafta so it came to us very loved already. After two years of Tanner sleeping with it all the time it isn't really that soft. No matter how many times it is washed it never really feels clean. I don't think he will be giving that up anytime soon. As long as he doesn't take it to college with him I'm fine with him having it.

*You can see that Tanner is wearing a t-shirt and shorts, it is H-O-T is So. Cal. Now that I am sun screening he is getting in the habit of wearing his hat when we are outside. This day he didn't want to take it off in the car. I thought he was too darn cute.

Busy Month

Hi friends-We have had a busy month. Here are a few fun things that we have done. We had a basketball party to watch the final of March Madness. Our friend Matt came down to meet the kids for the first time!

Carlsbad flowers:
We took a trip to see the beautiful flowers. We went with Grandma Howerton, Beth, Halle, Landon and Mimi. Then Tanner got to go back for a special day with Grandma Lyons and his great Aunts. Tanner loved playing in the dirt, I mean smelling the flowers.
Halle Beth will be 5 this summer and Landon is 5 days older than Tanner. They are al best friends.
Happy Spring!

Easter Fun

Who is excited about Easter?? Mark and Kipp are that's for sure! We had a wonderful Easter Sunday with our family. Tanner moved up from the toddler class to the 2 year old class at church. He is such a big boy! After church we went to Mark and Kristen's house. Kristen is due to have a baby girl any day now so she wanted to stay close to home. It was a beautiful day and we spent most of it outside.
The boys had some skate time while India was taking a nap.

Tanner skating all by himself.

Grandma and Grandpa with the kids. With Alex, Caleb and baby girl Howerton on the way they will have 7 Grand kids.
Jafta got to hold Peyton first because he is the oldest. My favorite was when he passed her to Tanner so he could have a turn. Peyton started out happy then she gets a little nervous as she is being thrown about between the three big kids.
Her little bunny says My First Easter. It was Tanner's bunny a few years ago!

Easter Weekend

We spent all day Saturday with Kipp's parents. We went to an Easter event and sadly it started to rain. Tanner is doing the egg hunt with his hands in his pockets.

The kids got to pose with Peter Cottontail. Tanner was very excited to see him.

R.I.P

It's so hard to say good-bye to yesterday.
Today is day 3 of no paci and we are having a hard time. Because Tanner is such a big boy he no longer needs one. That is what Kipp and I have told him about 100 times over the past few days. Today is the 3rd day in a row where he doesn't sleep during nap time. Wednesday night Kipp ended up sleeping with his after a long struggle. Last night he was so tired that he didn't make a sound. Kipp and I know that we are going to win this battle, it is just a matter of time.

T-Ball

We went to watch part of Jafta's T-Ball game on Saturday. Tanner loved seeing his cousins as always. After the game Jafta shared his snack with India and Tanner. It was a great day!

Being a Mom

I am watching yesterdays Oprah about Being a Mom. I love hearing other moms talk about the ups and downs of motherhood. I have to be honest and say I love being a mom. I think I was born to be a mom. I was lucky enough to feel bonded and connected to both of my kids right away. Peyton is a super sleeper and sleeps 8 hours a night and has for a few weeks now. I enjoy watching Tanner love his sister. Even when Tanner gets in trouble I love hearing him say,
"I sorry mommy," and give me a hug.
I don't love when my child is throwing a fit in public and it feels like everyone is looking at me like I am a terrible mom because I just let him cry.

Most moms that I know are WAY too hard on themselves. I don't know how you are as a mom but I talk to myself all of the time. It is called Positive Self Talk and it is what I am all about. I feel proud of myself for all the little things that I do.
This is how my morning went.

Nursed my baby
Took a shower while Peyton was in the swing and Tan watched a show. Tanner didn't bother his sister.
Got myself dressed and both kids!
Tanner and I have breakfast while I pack snacks for the day.
Sunscreen on Tanner.
Load up the car and the kids for an outing.
As I am driving away I double check that I have BOTH kids! -Great job Sarah!

I have fun every day with my kids. My goals are to be firm, fair, have fun and be consistent.

I try to follow Tanner's lead. When he gets hurt is sad for a minute and need a hug. Then two minutes later he is playing and doesn't even remember that he got hurt. I try to be the same way. I get frustrated at different times but I try to just let it go and move on.

I am so blessed to have a husband who loves me and encourages me as a mom. The other day when he got home from work he told Tanner to thank me for taking care of him. Then yesterday he was getting our tax stuff and he thanked me for being so organized. It makes me feel good that he sees all of the things that I do. Plus I feel like I am loving him by taking care of our kids.

Just some of my thoughts.

Hoppy Easter

Happy Easter!
Kipp had his event this weekend. It was a HOT day in Aliso Viejo. We have been sick for a week now so it was nice to be outside. I dressed the kids in their Easter outfits.
Tanner made it just in time for the egg hunt. He is rocking the sweater vest!

Tanner and Peyton with the bunny!
Baby bunnies.
We ran into our friends Jen, Gordan and their baby Peyton. We took a picture of the 2 baby Peytons. Our Peyton is 6 weeks and their baby Peyton is 3 months.
