It's so hard to say good-bye to yesterday.
Today is day 3 of no paci and we are having a hard time. Because Tanner is such a big boy he no longer needs one. That is what Kipp and I have told him about 100 times over the past few days. Today is the 3rd day in a row where he doesn't sleep during nap time. Wednesday night Kipp ended up sleeping with his after a long struggle. Last night he was so tired that he didn't make a sound. Kipp and I know that we are going to win this battle, it is just a matter of time.

OOOOOOOOh, man. Hang in there! Power to the parent! For some reason, my kids didn't do pacis, but I've heard this is really, really tough. Did you have a ceremony of saying goodbye or anything? Throwing it off a bridge? Wrapping it up to give to the paci fairy?
You can do it! You're right...you'll get through this!
Also? I could TOTALLY hear you singing each word of that first sentence. ;)
oh dear.....now I am getting nervous! We have weened her off of it except for night time and I am not very eager....
O man...you are good Sarah! Tanner is in a big boy bed and no paci too??? Meanwhile, Lexi is still rocking the crib and her night-night. Sigh.
You WILL win this battle! :o)
We let Alex decide when to let go of the pacifier. And, by that I mean I cut holes in ALL of the pacifiers in the house. I let her use them as much as she wanted and within 1 week she decided, on her own, that she was done. They didn't work anymore. We weren't the enemy. And, she felt confident about her decision.
Caleb never took one...he was a straight boob kid. I couldn't cut a hole in that so it was hard...
good luck!
So funny as soon as I saw the title RIP I knew it was the paci! Not looking forward to this battle down the road. Good luck Sarah!
Mike, you're a genious. I wish that I had been prevy to that sage wisdom two years ago, when our oldest held out for two whole weeks. We wouldn't give in, but it was brutal. Hang in there Sarah!!!! You will prevail!
Thank you for your thoughts! We did put a hole in it and Tanner told us that it broke. I let him have the broken paci on Wed. and he cried through his nap. When Kipp got home from work that day he asked Tan if he wanted to throw it away and Tanner said yes. So when he asks for it we remind him that it broke because he was such a big boy and that he put it in the trash. Every day is getting better but I understand that it must be hard on the kid. He has used it to go to sleep every day for almost 2 years. Today he just talked in his bed for an hour before falling asleep, so that is good news.
