Our Big Boy

This is one of the last pictures taken with Tanner having a pacifier. A while back we put a hole in his magenta because it was getting yucky. So then he would take any pacifier. As some of you read a week and a half ago his other paci "broke". I put a hole in it but Tanner thought that it broke because he was so big and strong. Because it was broken he made the decision to throw it in the trash. We told him that paci's were for babies like Peyton and that he was a big boy. It has been a week and a half and things are back to normal. He takes a naps and goes to sleep at night with no problem. The hour long cries for his paci are behind us. Thank goodness! Softie on the other hand is a different story. That is his small soft blanket you can see in the picture. It was a hand-me-down from Jafta so it came to us very loved already. After two years of Tanner sleeping with it all the time it isn't really that soft. No matter how many times it is washed it never really feels clean. I don't think he will be giving that up anytime soon. As long as he doesn't take it to college with him I'm fine with him having it.

*You can see that Tanner is wearing a t-shirt and shorts, it is H-O-T is So. Cal. Now that I am sun screening he is getting in the habit of wearing his hat when we are outside. This day he didn't want to take it off in the car. I thought he was too darn cute.

I slept with my blankie all the way through high school. It was ALWAYS on my bed. I took it to college but was too embarrassed to use it.

I still have it in my linen closet.

I also have no shame! :)

The kids are so big and cute!

Sarah, I actually still have a tiny, little blue wooden pig that your Mom gave me when I was 5 or 6. It came from Worlds of Fun or some place like that. I treasure that little pig. It has a cork tail. Too cute. I can't believe that I have kept up with it all these years, through all the moves, etc. It was the first time that I can remember someone giving me a real "gift" and it meant the world to me. It is sitting on a shelf in my kitchen right now - I look at it every day. Security objects no matter what they are, can be a good thing ! I love my blue pig !

Caleb still has a blankie (DON'T TELL HIS FRIENDS). No worries. Good job with the pacifier! A blankie won't cost you thousands in dental bills...:)

I agree with Jodie... blankets/softies/loveys are a different category than paci's. I'm so impressed and proud of you for how you handled the magenta thing! My mom said she snipped my paci when I was a kid too, which made me not like it. My kids both have their softies, and they are no longer soft. I've read that it's a very healthy attachment thing for kids. Carson's I'm afraid will always have a stink. But it can stay at home on the bed when he goes to preschool!
